Guide

From an unlisted shelf to a working library.

Five steps. If you can take a photograph on a phone, you can do all of them.

01

Tell us what kind of library you run

We set up your library when you sign up — school, college, public or personal. This decides what the app calls things. A school sees students and teachers. A public library sees members. Nothing else changes, but everything reads the way you already speak.

You get a library code and an administrator login. Keep the code — your members will need it.

02

Scan your first shelf

Open the app, choose Add book, and photograph the cover or title page. Hold the phone steady, fill the frame, avoid glare from a tube light.

In about twenty seconds the title, author, publisher and edition come back filled in — in Malayalam and English. Check them, add the accession number and the price, and save.

Do ten books first and see how the records look before you take on a whole shelf.

03

Add your members

Add members one at a time, or send us your existing list as a spreadsheet and we will bring it in for you.

Each member gets a number. That number is what you use when issuing a book, so write it on the card or the ID they already carry.

04

Issue and return

Choose Issue, pick the member, pick the book, set the due date. To take it back, choose Return and the app works out whether it is late and what the fine comes to.

The overdue list is on the home screen. You will not have to go looking for it.

05

Print your registers

Accession register, stock register and lending register are all under Reports, as PDF, laid out the way an inspector expects to see them.

The same reports download as CSV. That file is yours — open it in Excel, keep it as a backup, or take it to another system. There is no lock on your data.

In your language

This guide is being written in fourteen Indian languages. Until they are ready, ask us on WhatsApp in Malayalam, English, Hindi or Tamil and we will answer in the same language.

Stuck somewhere

Ask. It is a short message.

Tell us which step you are on and what you are seeing on the screen. A photograph of the screen helps most.
